Sorry posts have been so light lately, we’ve been super busy with work. We busted our butts to put together our new office over the weekend, and as soon as we get some time, we will take some pics and post them for you to see. Now we have to figure out what to do with our large bedroom, as it is now huge and empty (since the desk and love seat went into the office).
Anyhow, im pooped, ready for bed, thought i would leave you with a look i love, rock n roll but a little bit girly, a little rough around the edges, but well put together, this is the perfect everyday outfit.

Sloppy beanie with a tailored blazer, makes a nice combo. How on earth do you fit a jean jacket under a blazer?! I dont know but i like the layers. Super cute.

Guerrero Gallery

Posted March 5th, 2010 by Gaelyn

If you don’t have plans tomorrow night, and you are in the bay area, you should definitely check out Guerrero Gallery.  My very good friend Andres, former co-owner of White Walls Gallery has opened a new gallery, and the grand opening is tomorrow night!

Andres has been hard at work building out and developing this space for months, and it’s super rad.
This first show is a large group show, featuring a lot of really great artists: Brian Willmont, Christopher Russell, Richard Coleman, Aaron Noble, Ryan Scott Shaffer, Tim Diet, Ryan Wallace, Rogelio Martinez, Adam 5100, Hilary Pecis, Mark Mulroney, Ala Ebtekar, Eric Yahnker, AJ Fosik, Mike LeSage, Allister Lee, Cleon Peterson, Ryan Travis Christian, Marissa Textor, Shepard Fairey, and Bill McRight.

I’ll be there all night helping out, if you want to come visit!
Guerrero Gallery is located at 2700 19th street, San Francisco, CA 94110.

For more about the gallery check out this article over at Juxtapoz.

See you all there!

scary and exciting new things

Posted March 2nd, 2010 by Gaelyn

this poster hangs at the top of the stairs in our ballet studio

While in New York, I missed a whole week of ballet class. I returned today, my first day back, to find that I was now officially in Ballet III and that my class had moved to the big studio. I realize, that having never seen my ballet studio, this means nothing to you, but to me, it was…kind of a big deal.  ;c)  Scary because the doors of the larger studio are usually left open, and I and other students, usually gaze longingly at the talented advanced dancers (like ballet 6) as they practice.  Now being in the bigger studio, means there is potential for people to see in while I am dancing, and I still feel like I have no idea what I am doing!  Also scary, because our class merged with another, and now we are one huge class, full of lots of people who I have never met, or seen dance. Exciting because, this means I am getting better and stronger.

Also new, exciting, and scary is that our roommate Marcey has moved out. This means John and I now have a huge two bedroom apartment all to ourselves! John and I haven’t lived alone in almost a decade. About a year after we started dating, we moved out into our fist apartment together, my first time living on my own.  After about two years, we moved in with some friends, because, well we were young, and I had never done something like that before. I mean in theory, it sounds awesome, who doesn’t want to live with some of their best friends? And for the most part it really was fun. But I can say that, we have wanted to live just the two of us again for some time. But we never had a problem with any of our roommates, and honestly, it sure as hell was cost effective!  But this time when Marcey said she was moving out (to move in with her boyfriend, in their own place, exciting for her) we knew we weren’t going the have anyone else move in.  I mean, it’s time, we are nearly married!  Being almost 30 and having roommates, may seem weird to some, but hey, its San Francisco, it’s expensive.  So while we are really excited about this new phase, and new house projects, we are also a bit scared, because like I said, San Francisco is expensive.  I think these next few month might be a bit rocky, trying to figure out how to suddenly pay nearly double our rent, and somehow still save for a wedding…yikes. But hopefully we will get it figured out quickly and get back to saving, without killing ourselves.

In the mean time, we sure have a lot of work to do in the new Office/ManRoom. Time to start painting, decorating, and arranging!  That room sitting empty is just too much for John to handle. Im thinking about neutrals (like wood and aged paper colors) mixed with blacks and a strong dark gray. I better try to hunt up some inspiration images quick, as Johns not one for waiting. He needs that room done yesterday!

break for nyc

Posted March 1st, 2010 by Gaelyn

I apologize for the lack of posts lately. John and I spent the last week in New York on business. My work hired John on for a job, which was really fun, and we payed to stay an extra night so we could have a play day on saturday! We stayed at the Ace hotel, which I’ve been dying to stay in! It’s adorable, they don’t miss a single detail, amazing. All of my personal photos are on John’s laptop which i don’t have access to right now, so i have stolen some images off the interwebs for your viewing pleasure.

our room looked similar to this one, minus the couch and smaller bathroom

our room had a record player- awesome. we didnt use it- not awesome.

our bathroom mirror read "love is meant to make us glad"

Stumptown

As you can imagine, John was ecstatic to find out that the Ace NYC serves one of his favorite coffee roasters, Stumptown coffee. He was sure to get one everyday.

We got hit by a crazy winter storm while we were there, and got about a foot and half of snow in one day. All of the locals were over it (winter that is), but since we dont get very much season differentiation here in San Francisco, we enjoyed it. I mean why be stuck in the rain, we have rain at home, bring on the snow! The city looked absolutely gorgeous! John and i made a little video around town on our day off. Which hopefully he will let me share later that shows a lot of the beautiful snow. Here’s a few crummy pics from my phone to hold you over. Keep in mind that when we arrived, the streets were dry and clean, all of this snow happened instantly!

we revisited the place where we got engaged, the lake was frozen. looked a bit different.

Of course what New York trip would be complete without a little shopping. This time we made our way over to the J.Crew Liquor Store , to see it in person. Pretty cute, Andy Spade, another man who doesn’t miss a detail.

New York never ceases to inspire me.

i love photobooths!

Posted February 20th, 2010 by Gaelyn

YAY! We are so very excited, we just reserved a photobooth for the wedding. Not those new digital weird ones, but the real deal, black and white photobooth! This is one pricey item that i knew we had to have. I love photobooths, and sadly, the good, real deal ones, get harder and harder to find as the years go by. John and i always take a photo strip when we see one. There used to be one in Santa Barbara, and we would take a strip every time we went to Carpinteria, but, like many others, it disappeared a couple years ago. So excited!!!!
Here are a few of us over the years.

just babies! i was 19 here.

yes, thats me. i was blonde for a bit.

the unibomber’s cabin

Posted February 18th, 2010 by Gaelyn

The Unibomer came up in dinner conversation with friends tonight and it reminded me of this amazingly strange image i had saved by photographer Richard Barnes of the Unibomer’s cabin. Basically when investigating the Unibomber, they took his whole cabin in for evidence, and now it sits in a warehouse in Sacramento. It’s a pretty chilling and bizarre image.

Looks I love

Posted February 17th, 2010 by Gaelyn

I’ve been keeping a folder of “looks i love”, and i decided i should start sharing them. Some of them are wintery and it would be a shame not to share them, so i better do it soon before you all get spring fever! So lets start with a cold weather look i love.

lookbook.nu

this is a perfect cold weather look. To be honest, as a California girl, there is no way i could ever wear leggings in the snow and not freeze to death, but for SF its perfect. Winter often times makes me feel scrunchy and kinda lazy, i just want to be cozy, but i dont want to look like a slob…solution: leggings, flannel shirt, boyfriend cardigan and squishy scarf ( i love how obnoxiously huge hers is).
